Latest Cookie Laws - is your website compliant?
A new law has come into effect this weekend which requires all websites to ask for permission from visitors before using 'cookies'. Cookies are used on most websites, and most commonly for Google Analytics, they are tiny data files that remember and store computer logins, email addresses and previous internet activity of a visitor.
Website owners now must be upfront with their visitors about what tracking tools their website uses. This is done by obtaining "informed consent" from their visitors before saving cookies on a machine. As a website owner, it is crucial you are aware that the law has changed and you are now required to show a message on your site allowing your visitors to select if they allow cookies or not.
The team at Verve are also taking action to allow our customers to have this functionality on their site quickly and easy to ensure their website remains compliant. It is important to us that our websites are fully compliant with this law. For a small one off fee we are adding pop-up scripts and creating or amending Privacy Policy's to reflect this latest law. For an example of a pop-up script please see the bottom right hand corner of our website www.verveuk.eu; Privacy Policy's now must provide all of the relevant information regarding this new law including detail of which cookies our website uses, please click to view our Privacy Policy.
Please don't get in trouble with this new law and ensure your website is compliant with the latest regulations. This can be done by simply adding a pop-up script for cookies giving your visitors the option to allow or deny cookies and ensuring your website has sufficient information regarding cookies used in your Privacy Policy, this will ensure your website meets the set regulations.
Please do not get in trouble with this new law, if you are unsure about what your website needs to be compliant, or if you have any questions regarding this new law please do not hesitate to give us a ring on 01743 467700 or drop our team an email at info@verveuk.eu and we will do our best to assist.
