Great News - Automatic Updates for Internet Explorer

Last week, Microsoft announced that Internet Explorer will very soon be offering automatic updates to their web browser.  We are very pleased as this will in turn drastically improve security and result in added protection against malicious software for its users.

The automatic updates has been one of the best features of Google's web browser, Chrome, also adopted by Mozilla Firefox, and now, with Internet Explorer. Of course, providing users have enabled automatic updates this will always keep Internet Explorer up to date too!  We certainly recommend this.

Microsoft said that the industry has been moving toward automatic updates, very importantly as the biggest online threat nowadays is social engineering malware, often targeting outdated software which is so often web browsers.

In recent times, Internet Explorer had been losing a large portion of its market share, dropping below 50% of all web traffic, although still leading at 46%, with Chrome following at 25.7% and Firefox at 25.2%. (IBN)

We appreciate that some users prefer to update software on their own, however automatic updates are certainly the best way forward to keep browsers up to date and are especially important from a security point of view.

Microsoft will be rolling this new feature out in the New Year, starting in January with customers in Australia and Brazil and we look forward to this being available on our browsers in the UK too.
